About the Word Up™ questions

These are not academic-style questions about English grammar, usage, etc., but simply fun questions intended to help players develop their vocabulary, spelling, grammatical awareness, use of idioms, communicative skills, general knowledge, etc. within the context of a game. Technical terms used in teaching grammar are for the most part avoided.

Players should be asked questions from the level at which they can answer around half correctly.

Each set contains a few questions above and a few questions below the set's general level of difficulty. The former are to help prevent a particular player from continuing too long on one turn, while the latter are to give struggling players a good chance of earning a scoring token.

More about using these question sets may be found in the Notes on Play section in the Rules of Play.
